The film has a compelling concept – ‘are serial killers born, or made?’.

Back when Dario Argento was a genuinely interesting filmmaker. I highly recommend The Bird With the Crystal Plumage and Four Flies on Grey Velvet to anyone curious about giallo. This one has its flaws but upon the second viewing it clicked.

One day I hope to get a copy of this film that will actually play the whole way through. The Anchor Bay dvd stops working about a third of the way into the film. Still, it’s nice reading about all of the bits I couldn’t watch.

The Bird With the Crystal Plumage and Four Flies on Grey Velvet are great exapmles of how good Argento used to be.

Get the Blue Underground DVD. It’s remastered, uncut and has a handful of extras.
