Have Code Red rebranded themselves Scorpion Releasing? Or is it an offshoot from an existing or former employee? Who knows? Who cares? What is important though, we might finally actually be getting SILENT SCREAM on DVD in the near future.
For the first time on DVD anywhere in the world, Scorpion Releasing is proud to present Silent Scream, the classic slasher film featuring Barbara Steele in one of her most terrifying roles. Out of circulation for decades, the film has recently been mastered in Hi-Definition by Scorpion Releasing, and will be sure to shock a whole new generation of horror fans.
What is the deadly secret haunting the Engels family? Young co-ed Scotty (Rebecca Balding) is unable to find housing on campus. She finds a vacancy at the nearby Engels’ mansion, now a boarding house for college students. Mrs. Engels (Yvonne De Carlo) and her son seem nice enough, but it becomes clear to Scotty that something is not right at her new residence. When her fellow borders begin dying, two detectives (Cameron Mitchell and comedian Avery Schreiber) must solve the mystery of the Engels’ boarding house before the body count rises.
Written and produced by Ken and Jim Wheat, the creative team behind Pitch Black and Nightmare On Elm Street 4, Silent Scream was one of the most successful independent horror films of the slasher era, as it out-grossed Dawn Of The Dead, Phantasm, Happy Birthday To Me, The Burning, and Terror Train at the box office. Grossing over 15 million in 1980 dollars, Silent Scream has been highly requested by horror fans since the beginning of the DVD format. Now, Silent Scream is presented on DVD for the first time anywhere in the world, with extensive extras including the final audio interview with late director Denny Harris before his untimely death. The film transfer is from a HiDef master and also features a newly created 5.1 surround track to give everyone the chills! You can scream, but no one will hear you! MSRP 24.98
