Rob Zombie’s H2
The man that said he’d never remake a horror classic and reneged later said he’s never do a sequel. News flash – he’s turned around on that one, too. Because Rob Zombie is such an artist of conviction. Heh – okay, I’m not one for negativity so I’ll balance the preceding snarky comment with an admission – I’ve actually grown to enjoy RZ’s Halloween. Not as a Halloween film mind you, but the overall aspects of trying to put together a homage to the original classic. Now that he has got the origin tale and literal adaptation out of the way, I’m eager to see what he’ll do with H2, broken free of those earlier constraints. Will he serve up another trailer park bloodbath, or will the hairy director go jihad on expectations?
Dimension Films and Rob Zombie are teaming for another chapter of “Halloween,” and he’s racing to scare up the pic for release in October.
Zombie will write and direct “H2,” the sequel to his 2007 reinvention of the John Carpenter horror classic. Production will begin in March.
The new film picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers’ murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.
Zombie said it won’t resemble the original second installment, as the “House of 1000 Corpses” helmer continues to take the franchise in different directions.
Zombie took Carpenter’s original and stamped it with an original storyline that treated Myers as a clinical psychopath. The film grossed $60 million domestically in 2007.
Zombie had told Dimension chief and TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein he wanted nothing to do with a sequel. But just like the franchise’s villain, Zombie was compelled to come back.
“I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again,” Zombie said. “Now, we’ll be hauling ass, and that’s the problem making a movie called ‘Halloween’: If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I’d be fine.”
Malek Akkad of Trancas Intl. Films will produce with Spectacle Entertainment’s Andy Gould.

I actually enjoyed Rob Zombie’s Halloween quite a bit, and at first I was curious to see what he’d do if he came back to direct a “new” sequel. Since then, news developed that the guys behind Inside were slated to direct Halloween 2, and I was really looking forward to see how that turned out.
Now that Zombie is confirmed for the sequel, I’m actually sort of disappointed. This next installment will have a large role in determining the new direction of the franchise, as well as its staying power. I was really hoping to see a completely new set of ideas from a fresh and unexpected perspective. I guess time will tell how this winds up.

If he’s coming back after swearing he wouldn’t, Zombie better come up with something truly incredible just to save face. I’m hoping he does – the ’80s horror fan in me would love to see a really balls-out Michael Myers movie in the same year that we’ll be getting a new Jason flick with the Friday the 13th remake.

I’m sick to death of Rob Zombie making movies and not only that seeing him popping up on interviews and specials talking about horror movies. He’s arrogant and has nothing original to back up his claims. I have him on video talking about remakes and how they are cheap cash ins and then he goes and remakes one of the best Horror movies ever and not only that, kills the thing that made Michael Myers scary. The Shape is just evil, plain and simple.
Instead Mr. Zombie took the classic and turned it into a Halloween inspired sequel to The Devils Rejects. A trailer park style Halloween movie. With a white trash family. Whatever. Zombie sucks and even he can’t make a movie to prove that comment wrong.

Personally, I think Zombie’s “Halloween” is very underrated. It’s one remake where the word “re-imagining” truly applies and as a hardcore fan of the series I found his take on the material and the origin of Michael’s evil much more interesting than later sequels of the original series.
And before anyone makes the accusation, I’m no Rob Zombie fanboy, I was never a big fan of White Zombie and I thought “House of 1000 Corpses” was an absolute mess.
That being said, while I have little objection to remakes, I am a little wary of sequels to remakes since it means that the original series is probably finished. Although I guess you could make the argument that after the makers of parts 7 & 8 decided to ignore the previous installments, the “original” series was already over.

Scuttlebutt from the studios is that Zombie’s next movie will take place in a white-collar office building and that Sherry Moon Zombie is forbidden to be in it.

My problem isn’t with Zombie, it’s with the Weinsteins. Every Halloween under their supervision has suffered worse butchery than any of Michael’s victims. H2 will have reshoots to change the ending and slap dash editting that kill any suspense and most of the story. We’ll have to wait for the director’s cut dvd to see if Zombie’s H2 is a good entry in the series.

I hate the fact that Halloween was evern remade. The sad remake was such as pice of crap and a sham to all the other Halloween’s. Resurrection look good. If RZ is going to make movies they should be his own idaes. I relly like the The Devil’s Rejects and house of 1000 Corpses. I wounder how he will fit his wif the this movie he put her in ever thing he dose. it was the wost remake of all time. I am sorry to go off like that know that this remake has fan. But Halloween is me 2nt favert horror movie of all time and RZ Halloween was just not Good to me at all. I just telling what I thick. And I can’t want to tlack more about the gr8 slasher of the 70’s and 80’s. this is the best slasher web sit in the world and im happy to see my comments on this wed sit.

RZ cant do the franchise justice unless he does H2…the original story gives lori the story in number 2 and RZ’s Halloween doesn’t do that..I am a fan of RZ’s number 1 but unless he gives us a sequel I wont RIP…Micheal is to bad ass not to have a number 2

what I am saying is the character desrves better than RZ’s H1 sooo…why not let RZ give mikey another chance to give us another non-stop blood bath…if you think Rob didnt do a good job mikey deserves to get you himself becuz I am a bigger fan of the Halloween franchise than any of you I been watching these movies since birth pretty much I cant get enough..thats why I say ROB do everybody a favor and prove to us mikes a bad ass and he lived through the bullet to the head and plz make an H2

after 1 and 2 the originals got stupid and retarded…….the first two originals are the only ones that are realistic and actually imaginable..that being said maybe RZ can do justice to mike…I mean come on him getting blown up in number 2? maybe him getting F’d up by lori just getting fed up but come on anybody can blow anybdoy else up…lets be for real, mike deserves better than something so easy..the national gaurd could get called in and blow him up thats to easy I wanna see him and lil sis battle it out to the end..that sounds bad but come on its all a movie franchise

I have been watching horror flicks since I was 5 in the late 50’s when I saw a stake driven into Dracula’s heart at the drive in theater. I have been hooked ever since but that does not make me an expert. However , I do have my thoughts and ideas. I liked House of a 1000 Corpses for many reasons. Mainly it was a persons worst nightmare scary. That opening scene with that spooky fun house. That had me right there. That crazy family headed by Karen Black and the rest of the talented cast. Devils Rejects had the most amazing ending. Mostly what I got out of House of a 1000 Corpses and from Devils Rejects was that at last , finally someone had arrived talented enough, brilliant enough, and of a mind daring enough to really tackle the Los Angeles historical Tate /LaBianca homocides in a way that it could only truly be told. Realistically. Every film including Helter Skelter in my opinion held back from really letting the true events play out in all it’s visual actuality. I always sensed the directors of past films on the Manson led madness just lacked the courage or the talent or both to get the actual facts , police crime scene reports and photos, and visually bring it to a flawless fruition. After I saw Zombies first two films I knew this is the man who could do it. This is the man who will not hold back. As I said I know it has been done but not right. So it is as if it has never really been done at all because they always do it wrong. Just cheezy films that waste everyones time trying to tell one of the most famous crime stories of the last century only to produce a body of work that clearly gives the impression the directors hands were tied behind his back. If your going to do it do it right. Rob Zombi has all it takes in my opinion to elaborate enough on the details to finally bring this story to it’s however terrifying truthful justice. Hope he considers tackling this monster project.
